Welcome to the 2024 Refuge Outdoor Festival Camp Out! This event centers and uplifts Black, Indigenous, People of Color in the outdoors (white allies are welcomed). Take refuge, and do as much or as little as you would like!

Attention attendees: Online registration does not guarantee session access. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the session begins and check in with a volunteer to secure your spot. Thank you!

Introduction (30-45 minutes):
Welcome participants and provide a brief overview of the workshop.
Bike fitting, overview of the journey, intro circle

Bike ride (10 min):
Ride to Tolt River x SVT intersection

Tolt River Stop (15 minutes):
Ancestral Lands Movement, Tribal history, body scan. (Michael Bailey joining and giving a talk would be great)

Continue riding (15 minutes)
Enjoy bike ride & scenery

Interpretive Rest Stop and Lunch (35 minutes):
Participants enjoy lunch and listen to history/heritage of area with mindful recreation component (plug in stewardship opportunity and/or support local food/farm)

Ride Back (25 minutes)
Enjoy bike ride & scenery

Conclusion (15 minutes):
Wrap up and closing circle. Participants can share some personal highlights of the trip. We will share a resource guide (QR code) with more info if people want to learn more and get involved!


By the end of this workshop, participants will have gained a deeper understanding of how to ride on gravel and receive access to bike riding resources. They will receive tangible knowledge about the ecological and human history of this area so that they can make mindfulness a practice while recreating.
